Appanoose County Community Railroad Charter

The Southern appalachia Railway Museum announces our 2008 Summer Passenger Train Weekend, this year on the Appanoose County Community Railroad from Centerville toAlbia, Iowa. The trip includes a tour of Relco's Albia Locomotive Facility and the Wabash Depot Museum at Moravia. This is an all-day round trip over the Appanoose County Community Railroad. The Appanoose County Community Railroad is based out of Centerville, Iowa, and operates to the BNSF at Albia, Iowa. The railroad includes trackage from three historic railroads; Burlington, Rock Island, and Wabash; and operates 35 miles of rail from Centerville to Albia.

Cost: The cost is $119 a person and includes tours of the Relco locomotive facility near Albia and the Wabash Depot Museum at Moravia, as well as several stops for photo runbys (we have plans for at least four).

Equipment: The train will include two open bench flat cars with seating limited to 60 passengers. These cars do have a roof and the train runs rain or shine. Please note that there are no restrooms on the train but several planned stops will be made. Also note that the cars are not handicapped accessible and riders must climb a set of steps to get on and off the train. A lunch will be available for individual purchase at Moravia on the return part of the trip and drinks and snacks will be available on the train all day.

The Southern Appalachia Railway Museum is based in the Knoxville-Oak Ridge, Tennessee, area and operates the Secret City Scenic Excursion Train through the former K-25 Manhattan Project facility.

830am Depart Centerville by backing to end of track
1030am Arrive Moravia for restroom stop
1130am Arrive at Albia Siding, passengers off for photos, locomotive runs around train
1159am Arrive at BNSF, reverse direction for southward move
1215pm Arrive at Relco for tour of facility
130pm Arrive Moravia for lunch, restroom stop, depot tour, photos
400pm Arrive at Centerville, end of trip
