On Sunday, April 5th, our riders met at Bowie, Arizona, to catch a bus to our train at Claypool, Arizona. While waiting to board, Union Pacific provided plenty of action such as this eastbound stack train. |
|
Our train was parked in the Transfer Yard at Claypool,
with the old copper mine and facilities on the hillside above.

Just before our departure, the crew on AZER 2171 came down off the hill after working the copper operation. |

Our first runby of the day took place near the old
station at Hamm in the canyons north of Globe.

Our next runby was on the street running trackage in Globe. |
|
After the runby, Domino's delivered lunch to the Globe
station where we parked to meet the regular "Copper Spike"
excursion train.

You can see the equipment we used - AZER locomotive 2503, a full-length dome (RPCX510), and former IC lounge car "Calumet Club." We are doing a runby above the San Carlos River valley near Dili, Arizona. |
|
Closer to Naches, we perform our last runby of the
day. After this, we made a run to Bowie for the night.
