November 21, 2005 excursion between Sasser, Georgia, and Eufaula, Alabama

on the Georgia Southwestern Railroad

sponsored by SARM

(Nov. 19 | Nov. 20)

On November 21, 2005, the Southern Appalachia Railway Museum ran a rare mileage roundtrip ride between Sasser, Georgia, and Eufaula, Alabama, on our “Eufaula Route Special”, over trackage now owned by the Georgia Southwestern Railroad.

November 21st featured a trip across the state line into Alabama. The first runby was at the restored station at Shellman, Georgia.

Braving the rain, the group toured the GSWRR facilities at Smithville, where the final runby of the event was held.
