Ordered in August 1946, Pullman manufactured eleven 14-roomette/4-double-bedroom sleeping cars for use on the Tennessean and other Southern Railway trains. The cars were delivered in October and November 1949. All cars were retired in 1971 with most being scrapped. The Roanoke Valley is the only car of the group remaining in its original configuration. Currently the car is stored pending restoration.
