Southern Railway Caboose X261

[Caboose X261]

Ride in a caboose!

Southern Railway Caboose X261 was built in 1973 by Gantt Manufacturing of Greenville, SC. It was a fixture in local Knoxville service until it was donated to the museum in 1994 by the Norfolk Southern Corporation. Full restoration was completed in 1998. Caboose X261 features bay windows on either side, front and back platforms, and an authentic working coal stove. The caboose operates as part of the Secret City Scenic excursion train and is a popular place for parties.
